Aims & objectives

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.” Mahatma Gandhi

Action for Rural Morpeth (ARM) was formed to represent residents, voluntary groups and individuals located in the area to the west of Morpeth. The main aim of the group is to protect Morpeth’s rural landscape, heritage, countryside and communities against the harmful impact of inappropriate renewable development.

Wind farms, in the appropriate locations, may have a place as part of a wider renewable energy generation strategy for the UK;

Locations for wind farms and other forms of renewable energy generation should be selected in a strategic manner and not on an opportunistic commercial basis driven by the “stealth” subsidies made available through levies on domestic and commercial fuel and energy bills of consumers.

ARM’s Mission Statement

Action for Rural Morpeth seeks to protect the Morpeth Green Belt from inappropriate

renewable energy developments.

ARM is an advocate of meeting government energy targets using all forms of renewable

energy in appropriate and sustainable locations.
